Our Vision
The goal of the 2018 Friendship Tour was to continue to strengthen the relationships formed through Camp Franklin. As Camp Franklin hosted Jewish Israeli teens in Tennessee and introduced them to their world, the Friendship Tour provided a context for the Israeli youth to introduce their friends to the richness of Israel.
Against the backdrop of sensitivity born of centuries of negative history, we were faced with the opportunity to extend the friendships begun through camp to their orthodox parents and families, most of whom have lost many to the holocaust and share in the history of antisemitism through the ages. Navigating the large gaps in language, history, perspective and experience offered many occasions to listen and learn. the gift extended by the Israelis to the non-Jewish participants of this tour was of an overwhelming hospitality.
