Day At The Capital

Instilling Worth, Introducing Hope

An introduction to real life relationships between Israeli teenagers and Tennessee's pro Israel senators, representatives and elected officials.

Challenge

Israel's youth are well connected to media and to the fact that their beloved homeland is villainized and condemned around much of the world. In Camp Franklin's Day at the Capitol, both Tennessee and Israeli teens hear from those in the political arena who stand with them and for them, providing substantial encouragement to all, as well as a sense of their own potential to make a difference..

Through the dedicated efforts of Representative Terri Lynn Weaver, the campers have been hosted by the Commissioner of Tourism Kevin Triplett, Secretary of State Tre Hargett, Tennessee State Treasurer David Lillard, COO for the Governor Greg Adams, Senators Janice Bowling and Mae Beavers, Representative Terri Lynn Weaver, Representative Sheila Butt, Representative Charles Sargent, Representative Glen Casada, and CUFI representative Lyndon Allen, all of whom gathered to address the camp. In addition, several of our teens have been given the opportunity in this context in the Tennessee House of Representatives to speak to their peers and to the Israeli and US civic and spiritual leaders gathered for these occasions, providing a great boost to their leadership experience.

Significant in this already impacting event were the closing speeches by two Franklin campers, Rachel Hewitt and Noah Tannahill, who spoke of the impact these lasting camp friendships have had on their worldview and their commitment to Israel.
